These days, it is now acceptable for a woman in her thirties, or any age, to wear leggings and an oversize shirt in public. This is okay, even to the workplace, if they are made from the correct material. I am going along with this, acquiring more skinny pants and long tops over time. We wear these with boots, not high heels. I am just going with the flow. I do have a few questions, however.
1) When did stretch pants become leggings? Did they go away to a cocoon in the late 90's and emerge reborn, an entirely different garment? The Leggings?
2) Am I supposed to feel like I am in the 5th grade when I wear these leggings, or feel like an adult? I feel like a 5th grader, just for the record.
3) What prompted the stretch, or even stirrup pant cocoon to bust open and become a part of our lives again? It was so over, except for in rural Utah or similar, and then all the sudden, the Legging. How do these things happen? I suspect it has something to do with the movie Mr and Mrs Smith circa 2005. She is not wearing any pants here, but you can see how the look evolved.
4) Are overalls next?
